The Freesax Foundation actively seeks funding to help local schools and districts whose music programs need support. Our support can range from direct monetary payments to be used at the discretion of a local music teacher to sheet music, donated instruments, supplies such as strings, cases, chairs, music stands, anything to help a music program attain and maintain excellence. We are currently in the process of applying for grants for our 2012-2013 direct support program, and are asking several philanthropic groups to underwrite this program, which can have a tremendous impact on local music programs.
In 2012, we donated $200 to the McAuliffe Middle School Jazz Band, headed by local music legend Chuck Wackerman, to help with the upkeep of instruments and to purchase needed supplies or pay for travel expenses for his group. During the summer of 2012, we collected information from other needy music programs and prepared the budget for our 2013 Direct Support Outreach effort. We are in the process of collecting funds and applying for grant funding for this program, and have selected three local schools to benefit from our efforts. Bell Intermediate School in Garden Grove, Hudson K8 School in Long Beach, and Fulton Middle School in Fountain Valley were selected to receive donations in 2013. Please make a donation to help these three amazing music programs with some of the basic necessities of teaching a large amount of students the joys of music. Contact us to learn how you can help this effort, and to get a list of needed supplies if you would like to make an in-kind donation.
If you are involved with a school music program that has need for supplies, instruments, or direct support, please contact us and we will open a dialogue with you about your music program.
